Leckie Joseph A.

Is a well-known Clyde yachtsman and racing owner. He was born in 1866 in Glasgow, and educated at the Bellahouston Academy in Glasgow. He owned as a boy one of the Clyde lugsail boats, which he used as a knockabout craft, and gained valuable experience. In partnership with a friend he purchased the 17-footer Rosalind, and this he used for some time up and down the Clyde. He became a keen racing enthusiast, and bought the 23 - 30 footer Clyde-class boat Cymbeline. This boat was champion of her class in 1902-1903. He next owned the 36-footer Falcon, which he owns at the present time, and has raced con­sistently in the Solent. Prior to the break up of this class Falcon was champion. He also owns the s.y. Poppy, 19 tons, and is a prominent member of the Yacht Racing Association.
